This’ll be short and sweet. I’ve been up 24hrs now, with the last 14 or so troubleshooting and recovering from a failed PERC 2 raid controller in an old Dell 6300 server we still had in production.
Plenty was involved in the recovery, from stealing hw from other servers to new SAN connections to an EMC CX300 via a mcdata fiber switch, floppy boot of various firmware downgrades and upgrades, and annoying attempts at fixing things that just didn’t work right.
The end result is an unscheduled upgrade for many of our end users. I suppose for them and the company, it couldn’t have been better timing. I mean, the first dat of a 3-day weekend? Who’s working?
Oh wait. I am.
And there I was, on the sidelines, chanting things like, “Go, Wayne, go!” and “Good job, Wayne!” What fun. Such dedication!
Go to SLEEP. I still don’t know how you function on 10 hours of sleep over 4 days. Amazing.
