I just found a "category to tag" converter built-in to the new version of Wordpress. Seeing as how I have 368 categories, most of which really were used as "tags", this will save me a LOT of time. Then I can come up with a short list of actual nested categories for a cool site-map and we're home free, baby! I still need to find out how to manage the tags (or maybe you just don't), and also how to find uncategorized entries. I did a test conversion and it made the entry uncategorized, but when I edited that entry, it changed the category to "General". Oh cool!
