I don’t blog on Saturdays. But I might start Twittering.
I’d not heard of Twitter ever until I saw it on Blogography. I wasn’t sure what it was about or whatever, but it became much more clear once I signed up. Some use it as a tool to help others keep track of them (stalking, cyberstalking, whatever you call it), but I see it more as a convenient mini-blogging tool and a semi-public diary.
So I’m going to try it. I really like that you can use web, instant messaging, or text (sms) messaging to do little one-liners.
And of course, my brain is already filling up with all the scenarios how this can be horrendously bad in the future, but I’m going to play along for now. Maybe I’ll write up my concerns at some point. Feel free to submit your own concerns as comments here. In my case, I don’t expect anyone to actually be interested in following / tracking / stalking me, but I’m going to like having the time-line diaries because I’m fairly horrible at tracking time myself, so if I can go back and see “walgreens survey on Saturday” I don’t have to keep a real diary!
It’s like having a diary without emotion. And I’m pretty good at hiding emotions since my natal moon is in the 12th house.
So become “a fly on the whall” if you wish. Or add the RSS feed to your feedreader.
PS: how narcissistic will our society become? I hearby coin the term “blogceited”. Oh crap, someone used it already.

I added you on Twitter and you make an excellent point about the being blogceited. In fact, I am working on a post talking about stalking each other, the mere ego that we have in offering this stalkathon-ish behavior and all that goes with it.
Meanwhile, I’ve added you
When I eventually have my new site up (I know, I know, but I’m patient and stuff) I will be using a special blog->Twitter feature so that I actually just post something and it adds it to my Twitter feed. That way when I do the little posts they’re just Twittery instead of showing up as main blog posts.
Hilly, what’s this talk about ‘each other’? I thought this whole thing was about me?
anyway, so I’ve turned off notifications and I’m not ‘watching’ anyone yet but I assume it means I can get IM chats and sms’s for other people’s twitterings?
Poppy, I’m not completely sure I understand, but I can envision a ‘twitter’ widget in the sidebar, like ‘recent comments’ that lists how long since last, the recent twitters, etc.

And I hereby claim the term and idea of ‘Twitter Secret’ which is ‘post secret’ but with anonymous twitters. Like “hey, that ding in grey mazda license 44cd4t? All me, dude” of course, I haven’t checked if someone else has figured that concept out yet.
Poppy #2, ok I think I understand better. It’s like Feast of Crumb’s “mini-blogs” that he does – this kind of replaces it, no?
–
And I also hereby claim the term and idea of ‘Twitterbait’ which is the action knowing someone is watching your twitters, and you submit a twitter specifically for the intention of misleading said watcher, and then catching them because of it. Like if I knew if I twittered that I’m heading to 7-11 to pick up some ho-ho’s because I’m hungry and The Office is coming on and I HAVE to have them, then they come over to sneak in the house and replace the milk in my whole millk containers with 2% milk.
And I also trademark the term ‘twitterbate’ which um, well, you can probably figure out what it means to twitterbate, depending on who you’re watching.

It would help if you told us where to go for this f’ing thing. I tried to find it. I am all confused now.
Oh for god’s sake. I am already on MySpace, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Why do I need this one too????
Okay, I joined the stupid thing.

Twitter can be fun if it’s convenient to use. Otherwise, it’s a pain in the ass.
