Did you take an IQ pill? I am impressed. You actually made me laugh. Multiple times. That takes a lot. Not *snort* laugh yet, but getting there.

My fav: "unverifiable tissue mass".... Hence the question on the IQ pill.

Ren, you are correct in that it's more likely that it's pronoun-replacement going on rather than a conspiracy against a specific phrase. And yes, "demise facilitator" is much better. Or maybe "expiration engineer."

Christine, I applaud any immigrant who "did it right." I wish more would be done to make it easier for people to legally enter the country. I welcome all who want to better their lives and join our great country.

Avi, The first MOS (job) that my Army Recruiter wanted me to sign up for in the Army Reserve was "Petroleum Supply Specialist." Can you guess what that really meant? "Gas Pumper".

Amanda, Well said. Part of the problem is that we can't handle as many legal immigrants as we have demand for. Every year, America gets about 1 million new legal immigrants (600k of whom are already here and just change their status), but get anywhere between 700k to 1.5 million illegal immigrants.

I *want* more immigrants. I *want* them to come in and take jobs. I *want* them to not have to watch over their shoulders. And yes, I want them to pay taxes. I want the money they make to stay here in our economy and not go back to Mexico. I want them to succeed and thrive and learn English and laugh and spend money and follow their dreams.

Christine #2, I am very glad he's home safe. I can't imagine what it must be like for the mom/dad.

Generally, I'm really liberal. This is the one point where I'm conservative. I'm honestly not racist. I have no problem if you want to better yourself, and immigrating is the only way for you to improve your situation. However, there's a legal way to do things, and those who break the law are criminals, regardless of what law they're breaking. I just wish people would go through the proper channels to get things done, instead of continuously breaking the law. And we're supposed to support these criminals, instead of prosecuting them like any other criminal.

I also protest the use of "sanitation engineer". It's garbage man!

Touchy subject. Don't know where to begin. A lot is wrong with a lot of is going on. My husband is third generation from Mexico and they worked hard to do it right. I struggle with the rights and wrongs of this society right now.

The parenthetical "undocumented workers" in the newspaper is more likely a replacement for "them". It is certainly possible that the quotee had used "illegal aliens" previously and so the pronoun should have been replaced as such, but there is not enough information in the article to determine that.

I think the murder-replacement phrase you're looking for is "demise facilitator" or perhaps even "after-life enabler".
