This week’s major project at work is recabling one of our communication rooms. I got to work pretty early today (before 5am) and just took my first break, and I have a good 5-6 hours planned tonight since a lot of the cabling changes either have to be done after hours, or they require a special maintenance window for the items connected to those cables.
Here’s my original “before” picture:

I’m hoping to have a good “after” picture by end of week.
Wish me luck!
What’s YOUR major project this week?

The cabling in our server room is lot more disorganized than that…. but that will change soon. One of the projects I am a part of is moving the servers from our old server room to our new server room (with raised flooring, Chloride power UPS and proper cooling system).
Another project I have starting in less than two weeks is the new Exchange Server. We are moving from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 and retiring one domain and consolidating email on the main domain. It’s challenging, but it needs to happen.

That would drive me crazy!
My project was getting my new car! Woo Hoo for my first brand new car! Thanks for sharing in my joy
Get some rest/sleep now
martymankins, ah, exchange migrations is something I know well… bon chance, mon ami.
Poppy, I did do a first pass (as Ren mentioned) but the result was a very nice rack up front and the mess hidden behind. This cabling project is fixing the mess hidden behind.
Ren, kindof. The rack in back is the rack I’m working on now.
Good memory!googling!Karl, yup. plastic colored spaghetti. (btw, did you have to think twice when typing the word “spaghetti”?)
Raganator, when you take me for a ride in your new car, THEN I’ll be sharing in your joy (ride).
Christine, done. Gonna do the same thing tomorrow and hopefully have some downtime over the weekend.
That was a long night.
Can’t wait to show-off the after pics.
