I thought "smarticles" were those two walnut-shaped things guys have when they try thinking with their.... um, with something other than their brain.
(As in "Stop staring at that supermodel's chest, honey, or I'll kick you right in the smarticles.")

sourpuss, as far as you know it is

martymankins, well, when you post 1-3 times per week like you do, nobody's wondering "where'd he go?!!?" twitter and utterz does that for me, although that's not the driving goal

Janna, I completely disagree. The spongy molecules aren't useless. They soak up excess smarticles left in the brain after thinking.

Hey, wait a minute... so you're saying that my blog is nothing more than silly marshmallowy fluff, useful for turning ordinary brain cells into useless spongy molecules who can't even find their car keys?
Wow.
I'm really insulted.
In fact, I'm going to drive right over there and....
Hey, wait, where are my keys?

Dave is right about posting often, regardless of what it is. I find that when I have too much time between posts, it makes it harder to finish the next post. I think for me, I need the habit of posting something on a regular basis. Granted, I only post twice a week now, with the occasional 3rd post that sneaks into the mix, but for me, I need to be posting more often to keep in the habit (and managing my time better to be posting more)

Fluff or no fluff, I think posting when you want or when you can is the best option, regardless of what it is.

And reading those headlines, I don't need to watch Leno now for the next month. Thanks.

Avi, yeah, I liked the one-armed man applauding, myself.

Dave, it's a good goal, to be sure. I for one am glad you do, crap post or not

Sybil, that sounds like one of those honest things my 6yr old son would say.

BlondeBlogger, well, they're real as far as I know. They were forwarded to me via email, so I would guess someone's submitted them by now. I do have one of his paperbacks...

dmarks, maybe he was robbed by the one-armed bandit?

Winter, I hears ya. It's my preference to have the consistency but life interferes to much.

Life is what happens between blog posts.

Janna, that's some fluff you got goin' on, that's all I'm sayin'

sourpuss, I'll let you in on a little secret. I have a blog post written, always posted 2 months in advance, and every week or so I push it out another week. The post is the post that will show up after I'm dead. It's a pretty nifty idea if you ask me. Posting from the afterlife!

marilyn, Having a "real" voice out there on the internet does feel pretty good, doesn't it?

I try to post every day but the fluff seems to be more popular than anything more thoughtful I come up with. I have few readers who comment every day but then there are few blogs I actually visit every day. Lots of times I post things that I feel nobody is really reading and I don't really mind too much. Before the blog I felt like I didn't really have my own voice apart from my family. Now I feel a lot more like my own person. Yes, I am aware that's a little pathetic.

Also, the articles were great.

I don't put that much thought into the content of my blog. Probably because I just blog without worrying about how many readers I have or who my comments may upset or if it's a literary masterpiece. I post whatever, whenever. If it's 'deep" or if it's "fluff", I don't really care. That probably shows, but I don't care.

Do I care about that stuff when I read others' blogs? Not really. Sometimes we have stuff to say and sometimes we don't. Some people lead exciting lives and some people don't. No biggie. I read like I blog: whatever, whenever.

And I don't expect posts every single day (from myself or others) but I do try to post, at the very least once, a week (if I'm really busy) just so people know I'm still alive.

I think everyone has to find the right frequency for themselves. Like Dave said, his reasons for posting daily are simple. If he doesn't, eventually he wouldn't at all. I just don't have the time to post every single day. My writing load is huge as it is. I was overloaded before I began blogging January. Sometimes I do have fluffy posts too. I just try to mix it up and do what feels right on any given day. I'm not a plotter when it comes to my blog. I'm definitely a pantser. (Fly by the seat of my pants!)

Winters last blog post..Cupcakes!
