But I never noticed this before.
Background: I’m doing some research for my wife on Venus for a talk she’s giving next week. She has a very interesting presentation already drummed up, and we’re gathering some additional information and trivia about the planet.
Here’s what I found so “new”:
- The first four planets are terrestrial (rocky)
- Then we have an asteroid belt
- Then the next four planets are gas giants (mostly gas)
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune in front of Sun for size comparison.

What was new to me was the order – rocks, asteroids, gas. I never realized there was such a distinct pattern.

Nat – Oh, and did you also know that Venus traces a rose pattern in the sky every eight years? Venus = beauty, Rose = beauty. There are also extremely interesting ratios at work, like the Golden Ratio, Fibonacci sequences, planetary orbits and times, etc.
If I ever learned this in school I’d forgotten it. Very interesting! Did you know they now believe there are other UNIVERSES out there? They are calling it the “Multiverse Theory”. I recently read an article about it that was fascinating! If you’re interested I’ll try to find the link to send it to you!
