Hi, This is Wayne. This is my site, my stuff, my blog, blahblahblah. The site itself is powered by WordPress and the Scary Little theme. I thought it was cool, and I still do.

Let’s hear it for a trend!  Doing my Sunday weekly series on a Sunday.  Imagine that.  (Or Beat That! – I wish I could find the video for Beat That.)

My Kenmore dryer stopped working this week.  Anyone got any self-improvement tips?

Actually, asking for help on this is probably not a great idea.  It’s not like YOU’RE likely to know anything about it.

If you MUST know, it clicks when I try to turn it on, but it does not turn.  I hear a buzz sometimes from it, like it’s trying to think about maybe turning possibly.  If I rotate the dial or open the door, another click (like the one it makes when it shuts off).

Still no DITL camera

My camera broke a few weeks ago, which has caused two specific issues:

  1. I’m unable to record new content for my DITL series
  2. Tigger’s growth spurt is going undocumented.

I’m a little anxious about the whole thing, but probably not an anxious as I’d be if I were without, say, my blackberry or laptop.  I haven’t really looked for a replacement, but I’m thinking of getting a used camera.  I want to spend < $100 because money doesn’t grow on trees.  Money is made out of cotton, and cotton grows on a bush, not a tree.

Jaden, my 6yr old, loves to watch Sliders with me.  Remember Sliders?

I loved this series when it was actually on TV live, and I actually set my VCR to make sure I didn’t miss it.   Remember VCRs?

We’ve seen the first episode at least 5 times.  I guess Jaden thinks maybe the episode will change each time we watch it, like maybe it’ll put us in a completely different dimension or something.  Remember your first?

Best of LOLcats

And lo, the people did comment thus:

  1. Janna says:

Here I am, after being gone from the Whalliverse for way too long.

See how clueless I am? I had no idea your camera was broken, and I thought Sliders were those nasty things from White Castle.

  2. Nobody™ says:

Dryers aren’t terribly complicated, and usually there is a schematic somewhere on (in) it. Could be a bad timer, or door interlock switch.

  3. Raganator says:

Great selection of LOLcats this time! Nice work!

  4. Avitable says:

    I have three comments:

That’s the beauty of a home warranty. They’d fix the dryer or replace it at no cost.

Try a Flip video camera. They’re cheap even when brand new.

I used to love Sliders – they told some pretty fun stories.

Ahmoo – yeah, but when I think about how much a home warranty would cost vs the minor repairs here and there… I like my chances on my own. I usually fix my own problems if they’re not too difficult. Like I replace my own water heater elements, and I’ve fixed my washer before when the doohickey broke that makes it spin. I love mr fix it websites that walk me through the things.

    Sliders was a great show.

You want to spend under $100? How about a brand new one for under $80 (before tax)?

And the product page so you can see the features:

Now get back to making DITLs

    • whall says:

martymankins – wow, that looks like a cool camera! it’s extremely thin and has some of the features I really care about like long battery life, able to shoot video, is uber affordable, and 3x optical zoom. I definitely want “easy and quick” over “tons of photographer features” because I’m just an occasional shooter. Thanx!

  6. Sybil Law says:

“Well if that don’t beat off” – another quote from Blazing Saddles, since I have no helpful information for you. 🙂
    Great LOL cats, though!

    • whall says:

Sybil Law – you made me go look it up… I had assumed they had just said the normal “if that don’t beat all” and was intrigued to learn a new quote from one of my favorite movies… and well, it is “beat all” not “beat off.” I think it would have been funnier if they said it your way.

Here’s the full quote “Now if that don’t beat all. Here we take the good time and trouble to slaughter every last Indian in the West, and for what? So we can appoint a sheriff that’s blacker than any Indian. I am depressed.”

  7. Giggle Pixie says:

I don’t think I ever saw Sliders. Loved the LOL cats though – thank you! And sorry about the dryer and the camera deal. I hope there’s not a third electrical item waiting to drop dead anytime soon!

  8. Gee – I wonder which of the LOLcats is my favorite?

Sliders. Loved the show, still love the burgers.

    • whall says:

Sheila CSR – Gee, I wonder too 🙂 I’d never heard of sliders burgers and now two of the comments mention them. I’ve heard of White Castle but never paid attention to the names of the burgers. There was a White Castle when I lived in Lake Charles, LA, and next door to that was a pizza shop that had a little arcade with one of my favorite games called Crystal Castles. I just had to tie in the Crystal theme.

  9. Faiqa says:

“Remember VCRs”???! You have no idea how much you ruined my day with that seemingly innocuous sentence.

  10. sourpuss says:

I used to love Sliders! Thanks for reminding me about it!

    • whall says:

sourpuss – very welcome. I just hope to actually watch more episodes that I’d not seen. I also never saw any episodes when they Wade left. I kept hearing “Kari Wuhrer” this and “Kari Wuhrer” that but never paid attention to her. I see from her IMDB profile that she was on Stargate Atlantis as John Sheppard’s ex-wife which I do remember now. Am I rambling? I feel like I’m rambling.

  11. Tug says:

Have you checked Craigslist? I got my camera (Amazon says $1000) for $200, with memory cards, carrying case, 2 rechargable batteries…just a thought.

    • whall says:

Tug – yup, I’m a craigslist fan. Weird though, when I looked for a replacement Samsung S730, I found one online for $100, and I bought mine new for $99 more than a year ago 🙂 Some people, eh?

  12. Sybil Law says:

Ugh! Thanks for correcting me! I seriously thought it was beat off! Still – good, good stuff. 😀

  13. New to your blog. Love it.

Am especially enamored of the LOLcats, thanks for posting those. Gave me a smile. And after Congress agreed on the new Generational Theft Act, I needed a smile.
