As for my thoughts on this, if your iPhone 4 is working great and your wife’s 3GS is not, the upgrade for you to a 4S is a no brainer, well except for the funds because…

… you should get the 64gb, since the camera, video and other static media will need a place to sit. iCloud syncs data to each device, meaning that it lives in the cloud, yes, but it also lives on multiple devices after is syncs. So more space is needed.

Plus, the rest of us that will have iPhone 4S models (I get mine on Dec 2nd, which is when I’m able to upgrade on Sprint) will need their fellow Apple buddies to gloat with.

I’ve also been thinking of switching my family plan to Verizon (some political factors, but mainly better signal) but I’m terrified to think how I’d react with an iPhone that can’t have a data connection while I’m on the phone. I’m on conference calls a lot of the time. *shudder*.

I use mine all the time. ALL the time. When I factor that into my pay-off vs. cost, the new iPhone wins every time. I want that awesome camera. I want that amazing speed. I want that Siri assistant. Want. Want. Want. Divide that $299 by how much I’ll use the phone and it’s almost trivial. I’ll come up with the funds.

The 2-year contract is a more bitter pill to swallow, however.
