Welcome to The blog of whall

Come on in and stay a while… laugh a little. Maybe even think. Read more...

Hi, This is Wayne. This is my site, my stuff, my blog, blahblahblah. The site itself is powered by WordPress and the Scary Little theme. I thought it was cool, and I still do.

I heard today is Conspiracy Theory day.  If it isn’t, then it must be a conspiracy to keep it from being so.

So here’s my submission for today:

Man-Caused Iceland Volcanic Ash Fosters in Airline Bailouts, Gun Control

The five-day moratorium on flights that would be affected by the Volcanic ash is a big inconvenience to travelers, but it’s just the right incentive / door-opening event that would make a bailout of the airlines (aka: government ownership) a possibility.

Think of the headlines next month: “Airlines lose 10 billion dollars due to Global Warming”.  “American Airlines forced with bankruptcy”.  All with a complicit media showing many different facets of the manufactured tragedy about how jobs will be lost by hard-working union members.  Underneath every news article you read, it will be up to The People to ensure the unemployment figures aren’t made even worse by allowing transportation to be impacted in such a huge way.  In fact, it will be an assumed truth that transportation, both domestic and international, is too important to be left to the risks put forth by the free market.

“We can’t afford to let an essential resource such as air travel be hindered by unexpected natural disasters,” the articles will say.  They will make a compelling argument how man-caused global warming (Climate Change) has brought forth the recent volcanic eruption, and we only have ourselves to blame.  Nonetheless, the entire global economy is at risk if the airlines cannot be bolstered to the point where they can stay in business, and the only solution available is a bailout.

The reality is that powerful government officials expedited the ash protrusion, and have technology available to cause earth tremors.  In fact, the recent earthquakes were caused by the testing out of equipment, so that the officials could make sure the technology worked like it should.  Haiti, China, and more to come.

The government had planned on this eruption happening at any time between 2009 and 2011, depending on how the other takeover activities were coming along.  They didn’t want it to happen before the health care takeover, and they needed it to happen before they declare a ban on personal weapons (coming later this year or early 2011).

They need just enough time for the airline bailout/ownership grab to take hold (3-9 months), so they can ground/track flights at will.  This will help stem the tide of ammunition sales, and prevent Americans from fleeing the country via air when more people realize what’s going on.

Which ones can you come up with?

HA! You thought I was gonna be all political and stuff today, likely in response to a few recent stimuli, like the Federal Nationwide Gun Registration Bill that Obama will surely let sail through, or Obama’s first Press Conference where he actually admitted “I am the Eternal” (I frequently find the first four words of a sentence tell enough of the story, don’t you?).

Oh, no.  You won’t see ME stoop to such tactics to get in cheap shots or jabs.  I’m not going to mention any of it!  I made myself a promise not to be so political on ye olde blog of whall and by gum, I’m gonna keep it!  I’ll keep my political voicings to my twitter account and the occasional redirective comment here or there.

Tonight, I get to see my all-time favorite band YES in concert in Dallas, TX at the House of Blues:

And the best part of it is — I get to do the Meet and Greet!  I actually get to go to a little after-show party, spend a little quality time with the band, meet them, and get a photo taken with them!  This is almost a dream come true!

The only “meh” part of the whole deal is that Jon Anderson is not touring with them at this time due to health reasons.  Jon – my thoughts and prayers are with you and your recovery!  Your music has meant so much to me for much of my life.

Maybe Jon’s absence is what made the Meet and Greet package so affordable.  The guy in the middle is some singer from a YES tribute band.  And the young guy in the back right is Rick Wakeman’s son, Oliver Wakeman.  So, while it’s not the ideal YES tour (Union and ABWH came very close to that), I’ll take what I can get before we all get too old to do anything about it.

Because I’m steering so clear of the political bent, I won’t even mention that some of the group performed on the Mike Huckabee show on FOX.

What a dream come true for that tribute band guy, eh?  I mean, I sing along with every single YES song there is, on every single album ever released.  I can even hit all the notes.  But if *I* were in a tribute band, and *I* was picked to go on tour with the ACTUAL BAND… man.  What a rush.

I can’t wait for tonight.  I hope everything goes well because today I heard that last night’s show in Houston was postponed due to a medical emergency.

So, enough about me and YES.  What do YOU think of me and YES?

Update: MAJOR BUMMER: I just got an email from TicketMaster:

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with an important alert for your upcoming event. Yes scheduled at House of Blues Dallas on Tuesday February 10, 2009, at 7:00pm, has been postponed. The new date is to be announced.

I was just gonna get in the car to drive up to Dallas, too.  I guess that’s a good thing… I mean, I’d rather know before I head out, but still.  As I tweeted, I’m crying Tears of Topographic Oceans.

We checked out Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix over this last weekend (wife and daughter saw it in theatres but I missed out) and I really liked it a lot.  I could wax poetic on how the special effects were great, the acting was definitely top-notch, and the story line seemed appropriate for the situations presented, but mainly what I got out of the movie was a happy, pleasant feeling.

I felt warm all over.

In fact, it was indeed a bit tingly.

I’ve finally watched a successful movie targeted at kids and WASN’T made sick by political agendas.

That’s right,

harry potter dumbledore says guns are ok

WARNING: the rest of this has some spoilers in it, so if you haven’t seen it, you might want to click away.

Ok, now that I’m done with that spoiler alert part, I have to say how refreshing it is to have some common sense in kids movies every once in a while.  In the movie, Harry defends himself against a vicious attack by the Dementors with his magic wand (a “terrible WMD: weapon of magical destruction”) and then faces charges because he did so in the presence of a muggle.  The whole courtroom, Ministry of Magic, the new character Umbridge, and the incredibly pompous and liberal attitude of those in charge boiled my blood and for the screenplay writers to actually write in and display how ludicrous it all seems when faced with a dangerous situation deserves my sincere applause.

When I asked my 13 yr old daughter how she felt about the court proceedings and how Harry was being persecuted for his actions, she agreed that he did what he had to do to protect himself.  It seemed common sense.  And she even got a little mad that the Minister moved the hearing up 3 hours in the attempt to make Dumbledore miss it – YEA AGAIN for the writers!  And who didn’t love Dumbledore’s response?

Dumbledore: Witness for the defense, Albus Percival Wulfric…Brian…Dumbledore.
Fudge: You, you got our message that the time and place of the hearing had been changed, did you?
Dumbledore: I must have missed it. But by a happy mistake I arrived at the Ministry three hours early.

Heh, “happy mistake”.

I did a little googling to see how many others caught this parallel between the script and gun control ideology and there are plenty.  Maybe this world isn’t going to hell in a handbasket after all – at least, as long as us gun-toting freedom lovers keep some common sense around.

If you’re wondering where I sit on the gun control debate, you can take a look at my bumper sticker collection
